The Thin Yellow Line is the journey of five men who are hired to paint the median line of a road that connects two villages in Mexico. On board of and old truck, they do the job: more than 200 kilometers that they have to complete in less than fifteen days under a burning sun. Five solitary men that will acknowledge that there is a thin line between right and wrong; between laughter and crying; between life and death.

Ephraim is a young Ethiopian boy. His father leaves him and his sheep, from which he is inseparable, to be looked after by distant relatives, far from his drought-ridden homeland. Ephraim isn’t very good at farming, but he has a hidden talent: he is an excellent cook. One day, his uncle tells him that they have to sacrifice his sheep for the next religious feast. The young boy, however, is ready to do anything to save his only friend and return home.

Alfonso comes back to his home after 17 years of absence because of the serious sickness his son is suffering. When he arrives he discovers that everything he once knew is no longer there, as the single crop planting of sugar cane took over all the farms of the region. The only thing that is almost as intact as his memory of it is his home. Alfonso must face that he returns much like a stranger, as his family long before stopped waiting for his return.

Arnulfo Rubio, a young Mexican gun trafficker between the United States and Mexico, doesn’t know that he has been followed by ATF agent Hank Harris. After a risky mistake by Harris, Rubio makes a desperate decision: he smuggles the agent into Mexico. While these two apparent enemies slowly connect, they manage to reach a dangerous place. A place where the only way out will be by trusting each other.

“Hopefuls” tells the story of Junior, a young player for Bacaxa A.C, an amateur football team from the city of Saquarema, on the coast of Rio de Janeiro state. He has to deal with the unexpected pregnancy of his girlfriend Karine, while his childhood best friend, Bento, signs a contract with a professional team. “Hopefuls” follows Junior’s growing jealousy as it reaches dangerous proportions.
