Most of Bharathan's themes are shaped from the belief that sex and hatred form the basis of a man's psychology. It is a much-discussed factor. One more word should be added to these two to complete the frame of his themes- guilt. Rathinirvedham, Thakara, Patheyam, Vengalam, Thazhvaram, Lorry, Ormakkayi....all of them deal with the expansion and visual presentation of these three words. Bharathan presented Innocent, one of the major comedy actors of Malayalam films, as villain character who evoke laughter in Keli and Kathodu Kathoram, declaring his concept of man as the righteous figure.

With 8 feature films to his credit, Idrissa Ouedrago is the most prolific feature film director in Burkina Faso. 50 Years Ago
IFFK is always in the forefront in terms of innovative ideas for programming for Film Festivals. From this year IFFK is starting a new section titled "Looking back-Fifty Years Ago". So this year it'll be 1958, next year 1959 and so on....The idea is to pick up at least six or seven key films of the year, internationally acclaimed, get hold of good quality subtitled prints and show case them in the section for the benefit of film students and film enthusiasts. Those below fifty will get to know what World Cinema was like before they were born and those above, could catch up with the classics they missed or if lucky to have seen it earlier, get an opportunity to have a relook at it to refresh their old memories and take stock whether the film has lost its sheen or still holds its vintage glory despite all technological advances in the field of Cinema and artistic expression.

The camera pans through the clouds and across the rock, snow-covered mountains. It then dips into a green, wooded valley with steep cliffs to discover an open, green area nestled between the peaks. Moving closer, it zooms into the green field and finds a joyous Maria (Julie Andrews), a novice Salzburg Austrian nun, walking across the wide expanse of land. With open-armed appreciation of the beauty of the surrounding majestic peaks and vistas of the Austrian Alps, she twirls and sings the title song: "The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Music...." A breath-taking opening shot. Thus began Sound of Music, arguably the greatest Hollywood musical of all time.
